Governors can dethroned anybody. Presidency react!!!
On the controversial removal of the outspoken emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II, Nigerian Presidency emphasised that state governors can hire and fire traditional rulers.
Members of Kano state executive council led by governor Umar Ganduje had on Monday removed the emir and later announced his replacement an hours later while exiling him to Nasarawa State.
President Buhari's media aid, Tolu Ogunlesi reacting to statement by Abubakar Mahmoud(SAN), Mr Sanusi's lawyer said his client dethronement was reversible said "A sitting Governor can dethroned anybody-they have the power. That's the way the system is set up. Nobody is above been dethroned. The governors present them the staff of office and fund their offices.
The Special Assistant to the President on New Media further stated that the dethronement of a monarch in the capacity of the emir of Kano was not new, adding that Sanusi's fate was not only peculiar to the northern part of the country
